Social Media Foundation is a must!
(AKA: Having a blog platform to place blog content is the first step)
We must be social media compassionate and patient where needed:
Teaching is something I truly enjoy and helping others understand more clearly how social media and content work together is my passion! Every once in a while (and sometimes often) it is necessary to explain clearly what a small business needs to be successful on-line. Sometimes, this isn’t a small task and that’s okay. We must all be thoughtful when using terms and theories that we understand and know that another may not understand the social terminology we throw around every day. Although many of us live and thrive in the digital world we must be compassionate and patient with those who are a part of the digital divide. Many are and we must embrace what they don’t know and share our knowledge.
So, I’m writing this dialogue to not be condescending but to share an experience. Hence, sharing my knowledge was an absolute necessity.
Having blog content and no blogging platform:
Client: I would like you to blog three days a week for me. What is the rate? My business depends on it and I know it’s a great tool for marketing my business.
Me: Sure, I would be glad to do this for you. What blogging platform do you have a blog. WordPress, blogger, through your website?
Client: Oh, I thought you could just blog for me. Talk about my business three days a week.
Me: Sure, so you would like me to create content and blog it out amongst a huge targeted audience.
Client: Yes, that’s what I would love for you to do.
Me: Okay, I would be glad to help your business create an online presence and build followers and direct traffic to your website. I don’t hear that you a have a blogging platform set up yet though.
Client: No, I don’t. I just want you to type up some blog material, copy and paste from other sources if you want. What would be your rate to do that?
Me: Again, I would love to and can do what your asking. But, we need a platform like WordPress as a foundation and a home for your blog posts.
Client: Okay, do that and get some blog posts rolling about my great business. How much to type up some articles three days a week?
Me: Again, I can handle the content and posting to your blog but you need to have a blog first.
Client: Oh
Me: Yes, building a home (your blog) and furnishing it (your posts) are two different things.
Client: Oh. I don’t understand.
Me: Sure, first we will build you a blogging platform, complete with your profile information, contact information, some cool and productive plugins to keep you social as well as some widgets to keep the social ball rolling. Connect your other social platforms and have some aesthics that compliment to your website.
Client: Ok great. What is your rate to blog for me three days a week?
Me: Looking forward to getting you started. First, I will create your blog foundation and then we will add the blog furnishings.
Client: Ok. How do we get started. What is the next step?
Me: First, I will need to gather all the necessary information (some I can do on my own and some I will need from you) For example: 1) your website address 2) other social platforms you currently have 3) what theme do you want for your blog? 4) Who is your target audience? 5) Photos available and more.
Client: Oh, I see we need to create the blog home first and then furnish it with content.
Me: YES, yes you got it.
Thank you!
Definitely believe that which you stated. Your favorite reason appeared to be on the web the simplest
thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get irked while people consider worries that they just do not know
about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the
whole thing without having side effect , people can
take a signal. Will likely be back to get more.
Thanks
